Monyka created her first company, Grape Ventures LLC, in 1998, Grape Ventures offers Marketing & Promotional services and also produces the highly acclaimed Women’s Wine & Dine® event series (launched in 2004). This women only wine event series has donated thousands of dollars to worthy causes in the region & continues to draw hundreds of attendees yearly. In April 2010 the series will celebrate 6 years of “partying with a purpose” and making a difference for those in difficulty.
After years of seeing clients struggle with the ageless conundrum of needing to promote their business but not being able to afford conventional means of promotion – she decided to come up with a tangible way to help more than one client at a time “Lift and Climb” and the result was the 2007 birth of MyCity4Her.com. This unique online resource and networking opportunity was the country’s first nationally standardized and regionally focused non-membership based online community & initiative for women in business.
By combining the complimentary powers of web, print and special event marketing & promotion – MyCity4her’s mission is to provide an affordable, effective and unique venue for women to promote themselves, do business, find inspiration & connect with the community. MyCity4Her’s activities have been featured in The Baltimore Sun, the Daily Record, The Wilmington News Journal, The Baltimore Business Journal, and Smart CEO as well as on WBAL Channel 11TV. She was accepted into the Emerging Technology Center incubator in November 2009 and now serves as an Ambassador member of the ETC program.
Ms. Berrocosa is proud to be a member of the The Center Club (where she co-chairs Women In Business - the club's women in business initiative), NAWBO, Success in the City, Koffee Talk and Connections. She sits on the board of The Better Business Bureau of Maryland, NAWBO BRC, and her own Giving Spirits Foundation. In July 2007 she received the Red Cross’s prestigious National “Woman of Spirit” Campaign award and in the fall of 2007 she also was honored to be one of the first women to receive the SHERO award. In July she accepted a Smart CEO Bravo award as one of the top 25 women owned businesses of 2008 and in 2009 she was honored by the Red Cross as an Unsung Hero for her work with the Tiffany Circle.
Monyka however remains steadfast that her most proud achievement is being an involved and caring mother to her 7 year old son and fun loving surrogate Mom to her Viszla dog Tokaj (pronounced Tokay after the famed Hungarian wine region.)
